Riverbank Stay, Adelaide
48 hours in Adelaide from Eos by SkyCity

Two-day city plan

48 hours in Adelaide from Eos by SkyCity

Base yourself on Festival Drive and you can keep a short Adelaide stay simple. The hotel sits between North Terrace, Festival Plaza and the river, with Adelaide Railway Station close by and the Oval across the footbridge. This 48-hour plan keeps the casino as a building you may pass through, not the purpose of the trip, and leaves room for dinner, the spa and a slower second day.

Home / 48 hours in Adelaide

  • Day one afternoon

Arrive through the entrance that suits your transport: Festival Plaza or North Terrace. Walk the Riverbank edges, identify the route to Adelaide Railway Station and the footbridge area, then settle into the room once the hotel confirms access.

  • Day one evening

Keep dinner close to the hotel. Choose from the restaurants and bars published by SkyCity Adelaide, using confirmed hours where available. If you want the spa, note BODHI Spa’s published 10am–6pm daily hours except public holidays.

  • Day two morning

Use the North Terrace side for a city-centre morning. Walk, shop lightly and allow time for a market stop in general terms. The facts supplied do not name market venues, so check any specific opening times separately.

  • Day two afternoon

Choose either a half-day hills outing, with transport details checked separately, or stay local on the Riverbank. If the room category is part of the reason for booking, protect time to use the room rather than overfilling the day.

  • Day two evening

If Adelaide Oval is involved, plan dinner well before or after the event. The Game Day Entrance via the Railway Station tunnel is published for Adelaide Oval AFL games, open two hours before until two hours after.

  • Departure morning

Do one repeat: river, city centre or a daytime spa appointment if available. Check departure arrangements directly, as check-in and check-out times were not stated on the fetched Eos or rooms pages.

Day one: arrive, reset and read the Riverbank

Start with the practicalities. Eos by SkyCity is published at Festival Drive, Adelaide, SA 5000, while SkyCity Adelaide is published as North Terrace, Adelaide. That matters when you are arriving with a bag. The official pages describe a Festival Plaza Entrance on the east side, from Festival Plaza, Festival Drive, Adelaide Festival Centre and the Festival Car Park lifts, and a North Terrace Entrance from North Terrace, the tram and Rundle Mall. If you are unsure which side suits your arrival, read the site’s guide to getting there before you leave.

The first afternoon should be deliberately local. Do not spend it crossing the whole city unless you have an appointment. Walk the immediate Riverbank edges, note the entrances, and work out the relationship between the hotel, Adelaide Railway Station, Festival Plaza and the river. The property sits between North Terrace and Festival Plaza or Festival Drive. Westward is described by SkyCity as a riverbank bar at SkyCity Adelaide, which gives you a useful orientation point even if you do not stop there.

If your room is ready, use the first hour to unpack properly. The hotel publishes four room categories: Allure Rooms, Oasis Suites, Radiance River View Suites and The Grace Villa. It does not publish check-in and check-out times on the fetched Eos or rooms pages, so avoid building a tight first-day plan around a precise handover time. If the room category matters to your stay, compare the rooms and suites before you request dates.

Late afternoon is the right time to walk beside the river and across the footbridge area towards the Oval side if the weather suits. Keep it observational: how long the crossings feel, where the light sits, and which entrance will be easiest when you come back after dinner. For a first evening, stay close. The dining pages list several SkyCity Adelaide venues, and the site’s restaurants guide sets them out without guessing at unlisted details.

First evening: dinner, rooftop or spa

You have three sensible paths on the first night, depending on how you travel. The easiest is dinner on site, then an early night. The official dining list includes Huami, iTL Italian Kitchen, The Kitchen, Madame Hanoi, The Guardsman, Westward, Central Café, Chandelier Bar and Xpress, as well as The District and SOL Rooftop. Their descriptions differ, and not all hours are published in the facts we hold. Madame Hanoi publishes dinner Tuesday to Thursday 5–8:30pm and Friday to Saturday 5–9:30pm. SOL Rooftop publishes Wednesday to Thursday 2pm–10pm, Friday 2pm–1am, Saturday 11am–1am and Sunday 12pm–10pm.

The second path is a rooftop evening, if the day of week and your timing match the published hours. SOL Rooftop is listed on Level 9 at SkyCity Adelaide and described by the venue as a rooftop bar with “West Hollywood casual sophistication with South Australian taste”. Keep the plan simple: book or request the room first, then decide whether a rooftop booking belongs in the evening once your arrival time is confirmed. Our page on the rooftop and the bars stays close to what SkyCity publishes.

The third path is a spa evening, though the timing is narrower. BODHI Spa at Eos by SkyCity is published on Level 1 of Eos. The hotel lists adjoining gym, changing rooms, dry sauna, steam room, warm spa pool, swimming pool and quiet lounge, and publishes daily opening hours of 10am–6pm except public holidays. That makes it better suited to arrival afternoon or the second day than a late-night plan. See Eos Spa before you build it into the itinerary.

The casino occupies part of SkyCity Adelaide and is a physical venue. Treat the casino as one part of the property layout when you move between entrances, restaurants and the hotel.

Day two morning: markets and the city centre

Use the second morning for Adelaide at street level. From the hotel side of the Riverbank, the city centre is close enough for a slow morning rather than a transfer. The official SkyCity pages describe the North Terrace Entrance as the approach from North Terrace, the tram and Rundle Mall. That gives you a clean line into the centre without needing a car for the first part of the day.

Keep the morning broad: city streets, arcades and a market stop if that is part of your Adelaide routine. This page does not name market venues because the facts supplied for this review do not list them. The point is the pattern of the half-day. Leave after breakfast, walk through the centre, buy only what you can carry comfortably, and return before the heat or afternoon traffic makes a short stay feel crowded.

If you are staying one night only, this is also the time to decide what to leave out. The fetched hotel pages do not state check-out time, so do not assume a long final morning in the room unless the hotel confirms it. For a one-night stay, ask for the room category and dates first, then plan the morning around luggage, lunch and onward transport. For two or three nights, the city morning can be slower and more useful.

If you prefer to avoid improvising, set one fixed point and let the rest remain open. That fixed point might be a lunch reservation at one of the published SkyCity Adelaide restaurants, a spa booking within the published 10am–6pm window, or a time to cross back through Festival Plaza. Do not pack the morning with venue names and appointments. Adelaide works better from here when you let the grid, river and North Terrace do some of the organising.

Day two afternoon: hills, river or a quiet room

The second afternoon is where your stay length matters. If you have two nights, this is the half-day to leave the immediate centre and see the hills in general terms. The supplied facts for Eos and SkyCity Adelaide do not publish tour times, road distances to hill towns, cellar door details or transport providers, so those should be checked separately. What can be said safely is that a half-day hills plan needs more margin than a city-centre walk. Start earlier than you think, and do not schedule a tightly timed dinner unless you are comfortable with the return.

If you would rather stay local, use the Riverbank again but from a different angle. The site’s Riverbank precinct guide focuses on the elements confirmed in the facts: Festival Plaza, Festival Drive, the riverbank setting, the entrances and the relationship with Adelaide Oval. On a two-night stay, this local afternoon can be the better choice than trying to add distance for its own sake.

A third option is to make the room do more work. Eos has 120 rooms according to the SkyCity market release dated 1 December 2020, and the same release described Eos by SkyCity opening on 1 December 2020. If you have requested a category with the room itself in mind, protect time to use it. That is especially true if you have asked for an Oasis Suite, a Radiance River View Suite or The Grace Villa rather than treating the room as a place to sleep.

SkyCity Entertainment Group operates SkyCity Adelaide. A formal sale process was announced on 30 September 2026 after a strategic review of the Adelaide business, with SkyCity saying there was no certainty that the process would result in any transaction or other outcome. For a guest planning 48 hours, that is background rather than an itinerary item. Bookings remain a matter to confirm with the hotel or booking partner.

Second evening: Oval nights, dinner timing and the walk back

If there is an Adelaide Oval match or concert during your stay, the hotel’s position becomes more important than any long list of activities. The facts confirm a Game Day Entrance via the Railway Station tunnel, open two hours before until two hours after every Adelaide Oval AFL game. For other events, do not assume the same arrangement unless the venue confirms it. The river footbridge and the relationship between the hotel, railway station and Oval side are still the practical frame.

Plan dinner either clearly before the event or clearly after it. The difficult version is a narrow reservation that depends on crowds moving exactly as planned. If you want to eat on site, look again at the published restaurant list and hours where they are available. If SOL Rooftop is part of the plan, use its published hours rather than assuming late service every night. For specific event-night guidance, use the page on match and concert nights at Adelaide Oval.

If there is no event, the second evening is your best chance to choose a calmer dinner and a later walk beside the river. The area is compact enough that you do not need to make a production of it. Return by the entrance that felt clearest on the first afternoon. If you arrived through North Terrace, try the Festival Plaza side once; if you arrived from Festival Drive, understand the North Terrace side before departure day.

Keep the casino in its proper place in the plan. It is part of SkyCity Adelaide and the official casino page does not publish opening hours in the facts we reviewed. South Australia requires casino gaming areas to be for adults with valid photographic ID on request; the template for this site carries the age and help information where relevant, and our separate page covers the casino, factually.

Departure morning: do less, not more

The final morning is where short Adelaide stays often become too busy. Because the fetched Eos or rooms pages do not state check-in and check-out times, confirm your departure arrangements directly rather than relying on assumptions. If you have a late flight or onward rail connection, ask about luggage handling when your booking is confirmed. If you are driving, the official pages refer to Festival Car Park lifts connecting to the eastern Festival Plaza entrance and “ample car parking” nearby, but they do not publish a car park operator, space count, rates or valet details in the facts we hold.

Use the morning for one repeat rather than one new expedition. Repeat the river walk, return to the centre for a short errand, or have breakfast close to the hotel. If you missed the spa and the opening window suits, BODHI Spa’s published 10am–6pm hours may allow a daytime appointment, but public holidays are excluded and bookings should be checked with the spa.

For a three-night stay, stretch this 48-hour plan rather than adding too much. Put the hills on the middle day, keep one dinner on site, and leave one evening uncommitted. For a one-night stay, reverse the priorities: secure the room category, choose one dinner, walk the Riverbank, and leave the wider city for next time.

When you make the room request, be specific about dates, guests and the room category you want considered. If your plan depends on a spa appointment, a river-facing category or an Adelaide Oval night, say so in the notes. The request form is the practical bridge between this plan and a confirmed stay.
